              Not quite, but how about

              Fisherman, sailor, executive, artist…?

The emergence of Peter, the Artist, like many births was aided by family & friends.

Following his return to his beloved PEI 30 years to the day that he had left, his wife Gayle’s mother came to visit. The pretty vari-colored beach glass caught her eye and she started picking it up as she meandered the beaches around the Island. On the day of her departure , she expressed an interest in having more glass. Peter volunteered to pick up more for her. No one was more surprised than Peter when he didn’t want to part with it! A friend showed him a piece of beach glass she had wrapped in wire to form a lovely pendant. When daughter Jocelyn came home to visit, she encouraged Peter to make jewelry.
Beach glass sorted, wire, cutters, mounts and a small space cleared in a cluttered shed and Peter, the artist, creator of beach glass jewelry, was born.

Creations in sandstone soon followed as Peter’s tremendous enthusiasm and bubbling creativity was unleashed.

Pendants, earrings, bracelets, rings, candle holders, garden stones, carved seals, the Island in sandstone…all this in a few short months. Next? Only Peter’s creative muse knows. Did someone mention a Chowder Hut?

Long before Peter, the artist appeared, just like the verse says, Peter joined the Navy, then fished lobster with his father. Marriage to Gayle Crosby of Dartmouth, NS produced two delightful children, Jocelyn & Jonathan.
Peter was never far from the sea as his career in the fish plant industry took him from PEI to Nova Scotia & Newfoundland, from dock-side inspection to board room sales in China, Korea, Japan & Europe.

The small communities where fish plants are located benefited from Peter’s passion & enthusiasm as he undertook youth-oriented projects. Many of them continue today, a testament to his efforts.

He’ll be there. Visitors are always welcome.
